Leader Bank is aware that clients of various financial institutions have been receiving automated telephone calls. Generally, these calls indicate that they are from a legitimate financial institution attempting to confirm or verify personal banking information.

Phishing Scams
Phishing is the act of sending an email or SMS, in which the sender falsely claims to be from a legitimate organization, in an attempt to scam the recipient into disclosing private information. These emails or SMS’s may ask for information such as credit card numbers, bank account information, social security numbers, and passwords that can be used for identity theft or fraud.
Important Notice: Fraudsters will use legitimate logos and advertisements to make you think these requests are legitimate. Often times the SMS or emails will have a sense of urgency warning you if you do not respond quickly your services will be suspended.
Leader Bank urges clients to ignore such communication as the Bank will never request clients via email or SMS to provide their personal details or update account information via a link.
The following tips are provided for clients to consider when receiving unsolicited email or SMS messages:
- Change your passwords regularly, especially in the event you have had any personal information compromised. If attackers got one piece of information they may have received more
- Avoid accessing your Leader Bank information from computers in public areas, like Internet Cafes and libraries that may have recording tools like key loggers which are designed to capture clients’ credentials and passwords
- Never disclose personal information regarding your Online Banking username and password when answering unsolicited emails or SMS’s
- Know everyone who uses your computer and limit unauthorized access
- Check hyperlinks in emails before you click on them. Often times attackers will make the URL closely resemble a legitimate website (i.e. www.leaderrbank.com ) *Ensure the website address is prefixed with "https" and not only "http" as the "s" verifies that you are visiting a secure website
- Check the email for grammatically incorrect language, as this is often an indicator of a fraudulent email
